Our Sustainability and Environmental Goals

Defined as the "development that meets the needs of the present generation without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs", sustainability is an issue for everyone, no matter of the size or scale of a business. We recognise the interdependence between growth and the environment and believe that without a healthy and sustainable environment we will not be able to drive a healthy economy. We value and respect our environment so therefore have set goals which we hope will support the natural resources on which we all depend.

Our Sustainability Journey: Progress Since 2020

In 2020,we committed to integrating sustainability into our operations, setting goals to help protect the natural resources on which we all depend. We are pleased to share the significant progress we have made since then:

  • Reducing Our Carbon Footprint: We have decreased energy consumption where possible, introduced hybrid vehicles, offset carbon emissions from travel where possible, and increased our use of renewable energy sources. We actively encourage hybrid working and lift sharing, assess event participation to minimize unnecessary travel, and only undertake air travel when essential.
  • Integrating Environmental Considerations: Environmental assessments are now embedded in our projects and marketing activities to ensure eco-friendly practices. We also support our customers both in preparing for extreme weather conditions, helping them mitigate environmental risks and by allowing them access to key data from the office, meaning less trips out to site or on the ocean, thus reducing energy wastage.
  • Minimizing Resource Consumption and Waste: We have expanded recycling initiatives, reduced waste production, optimized resource management, and promoted renewable energy. Additionally, we contribute to community-led environmental efforts, including food and clothing bank donations and Seagrass plantation projects. When sourcing items for the office we always look for recycled or second hand items first, and don't throw anything away that can be reused by anyone - we free cycle, recycle and repurpose everything that we can.

Our commitment to sustainability continues to evolve, and we remain focused on making a meaningful impact as we set new goals for the years ahead.

Our Sustainability Goals for 2030

Building on the progress we have made since 2020, we are setting new sustainability goals to drive further positive change. By 2030, we aim to:

  • Work towards Net-Zero Carbon Emissions: Reduce our carbon footprint by increasing energy efficiency, expanding our use of renewable energy, and offsetting any unavoidable emissions. We will continue to minimise air travel, encourage hybrid working, and promote sustainable transport options.
  • Strengthen Sustainable Supply Chains: Encourage our suppliers align with our environmental values by prioritising sustainable sourcing, reducing packaging waste, and working with ethical, responsible partners wherever possible.
  • Minimise Waste and Single-Use Plastics: Further reduce our reliance on single-use plastics and further recycling across our operations.
  • Foster a Culture of Sustainability: Engage our employees and partners in environmental awareness to embed sustainability into our everyday decision-making.

These goals reflect our long-term commitment to sustainability and align with evolving industry standards and UK environmental policies. We will continue to assess our progress and adapt as needed to ensure we make a lasting impact.
