GIS In Ports Series – An Interview with Forth Ports

OceanWise Global > News & Projects > Uncategorised > GIS In Ports Series – An Interview with Forth Ports

As part of our GIS In Ports Series which is running from July 24 through to the spring in 2025, we are really excited to release our first GIS Interview.

This interview forms and important part of the series where we speak to ports using GIS to get a real picture of how  GIS is used in Ports, including their successes and challenges and what nuggets of gold they can share for anyone else using it or considering implementing the tool.

Our first interview is with Forth Ports. The Forth Ports Group are the 3rd largest port operator group in the UK with over 1,100 employees and handling 41 million tonnes of cargo. The group includes the Port of Tilbury and the Scottish ports of Grangemouth, Leith, Dundee, Rosyth and Fife.

An Interview with Forth Ports

“The use and scope of GIS is growing and more and more departments are now making use of this valuable resource. We are proud of what we have developed and now have ‘one version of the truth'”.
